Our Last Day in Paris!

Thanks to jetleg, I woke up with the sun on our last day in Paris. I tried to force sleep by squeezing my eyes shut to no avail. Irritated, I got up and padded around the apartment in search of my camera so I could go through all my photos of the day before and was met with this...

Paris - bathed in the most gorgeous pink morning light!!

Thank you, jetlag! It's the little things :)

A little later, at a more decent hour, it was time to get ready for our LAST day, nooooo!!!!

The Louvre is on the agenda today, so we needed a serious meal to get ready for it...

Cappuccinos (with whip cream and chocolate!) and sandwiches!

Finally, we were ready and headed out to the museum...

First we were greeted with some ancient Mesopotamian clay heads...

The Code of Hammurabi is the first written law, like ever! Dating back to 1772 BC!

It lists 282 laws, each with various punishments...

An ancient Mesopotamian fresco...

A funny little sign warning of pickpockets...!

The cunning Hermes!

Off to deliver a very important message, I'm sure...

I wanted to get in on the fun!

Meow, big kitty!

I loved this little blue hippo! Blue hippos like this were placed in the tombs of high ranking civil servants, to signify rebirth in the afterlife...

Ricin!!! Wahh!! Ancient Egyptians were wielding it way before Heisenberg...

The ancient Egyptian deity, Horus, their patron saint and also the god of the sky and war...

The colossal statue of Ramses II...

A mummy!

Incredibly well preserved all the way from the Ptolemaic period...
Kinda spooky...

A squatting little fellow...

On to Ancient Greece!

The lovely Venus de Milo...

She was quite popular...!

A little babe wrestling a duck...

The Old Centaur...

Dionysus after what looks like a few too many...

Hermaphroditus, the child of Aphrodite and Hermes, is both male and female...
(and likes to sleep)

Gorgeous ceiling...

This is Tiber (the personification of the River), who is nursing Romulus and Remus, with the help of a wolf...

The Madonna and Child in Majesty Surrounded by Angels by Cimabue

The Louvre is so big!

The Visitation by Ghirlandaio...

Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci...
(The two babes are Jesus and John the Baptist)

The Wedding at Cana by Veronese
This is a huuuge painting opposite the Mona Lisa, depicting the miracle story in the New Testament where Jesus turns water into wine...

The Mona Lisa in all her glory!
(And behind lots of bulletproof glass)

A little mirror selfie :)

David with the Head of Goliath by Guido Reni

A sneaky view of one of the palace's courtyards...

The Virgin and Child done in ceramic by the della Robbia family...

As we neared the end of our tour, we noticed the weather had significantly improved outside!

Look at that blue sky!

The Lacemaker by Vermeer...

And The Astronomer by Vermeer!

Doesn't even look real, does it?!

This babe is just can't even handle life right now...

A cheeky French Renaissance painting...
Oooh la la!

We got a bit tired and had to take a break before making our way towards the exit...

I just can't get enough of this view!

Viva la France!

Our long morning/afternoon left us famished, as you can imagine. So we metro'd our way over to the Champs-Elysees and popped into George V for some vino and lunch!

French Onion Soup... the BEST!

Some savory crepes and side salads...

A little peek at the Arc de Triomphe, with some construction going on...

Flagship Louis!!!

A quick little stop to treat ourselves to the best macarons around town!

This decadent store is said to have inspired Sofia Coppola to make the movie Marie Antoinette

Wouldn't it be nice to have these little macaron trees at an arm's length at all times??

Some bubbles to accompany those sweet bites...

The packaging is just as beautiful as the treats themselves!!

Ribbons!

And rows and rows of macarons...

Rose is my favorite :)

If you're totally crazy and not a macaron fan, there are still some treats for you to enjoy...

My own little bag :)

Vanilla, Pistacchio and Rose for me, and Chocolate, Vanilla and Raspberry for Ian...

SO. GOOD.

We headed back home to change for dinner...

...and then scurried back out to catch the city at Twilight!

(the famous Shakespeare Books)

A pre-dinner coffee and drink at a little cafe...

For dinner we went to the ultra-hip, ultra-chic La Palette...

The place was PACKED! And everyone was young, hip and GORGEOUS...

We were lucky to be seated outside and met a little friend under the table :)

Drinks!
(...Guess which one's mine...?!)

Cheers to our last night!

Check out our epic spread...

Burrata and toms...

And charcuterie!

This group right here had bottle after bottle of Veuve brought to their table...

And check out these chic little things?!

The girls were all effortlessly chic and beautiful in a way only Parisians can be, and I couldn't help but sneak a few pics...

We walked all the way home and savored the views along the way...

My eight days abroad were truly the best of my life. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had such an amazing European adventure with my most favorite partner in crime and the best guy ever :)
Thank you again, Ian, for the Christmas present of all Christmas presents!
